Qantas Freight has begun a direct weekly Boeing B747-400F service between Australia, Vietnam, China and the US. According to executive manager Stephen Cleary, Vietnam is one of the few countries in the region that continues to see export growth, and the new service will offer Vietnamese exporters one of the shortest transit times to the US. The new service is also timed to connect with Qantas’s scheduled mainland China trucking services as well as passenger and freighter aircraft operating from Shanghai to Australia. The new service operates direct from Sydney to Tan Son Nhat international airport (Ho Chi Minh City), leaving Sydney and Ho Chi Minh on Thursdays to arrive in Shanghai and New York early on Friday mornings and Chicago early on Saturday mornings.
